Stop Adani Human Sign
The #StopAdani movement is uniting in a big day of action this Saturday, October 7. Join us!
Together, we’re building an unstoppable movement in our campaign to #StopAdani which Labor and the Coalition are trying to ignore. Treasurer Scott Morrison thinks it’s funny to wave coal around in Parliament. Immigration Minister Peter Dutton cracks jokes about rising seas in the Pacific. Labor leader Bill Shorten says he “supports the Adani mine so long as it stacks up.”
If we want to move beyond coal, we’re going to have to spell out #StopAdani to the old parties with a human sign.
Dress: Wear scuba gear, dress up as your favourite reef creature or wear the bright colours of the reef.
Bring: A picnic, your family (kids welcome!), friends, pets and a footy. And don't forget drinking water, sunscreen and a hat!
What to expect: A fun, festival atmosphere with picnicking, music, singing, face-painting, sculpture-making, a giant human sign and in true Melbourne style, a bit of footy fun!
How to get there: The event is on Lawn 5 at Princes Park. It is behind Ikon Oval if you're walking towards Brunswick away from the city. Here's a Google Pin to help you find it: https://www.google.com.au/maps/dir//-37.7807383,144.961306/@-37.7806165,144.9572685,17z/data=!3m1!4b1
Transport: Tram number 19 stops right outside. If you're driving, you might be able to snag a park nearby otherwise try the Barkly Square shopping centre car park. It's free and only a short walk away.
Together, we can stop this mine and move beyond coal to an Australia powered by clean renewable energy.
