Don't Expand Loy Yang

Dear Premier Daniel Andrews and Minister for Energy, Environment and Climate Change Lily D'Ambrosio,

We can only tackle climate change if we end our dependence on the most polluting form of energy: brown coal.

The decision to approve the expansion of Loy Yang B coal power station is unacceptable and must be reversed.

The EPA has just approved the expansion of Loy Yang B coal power station. This will burn 400,000 extra tonnes of dirty brown coal per year.

2016 was just announced as the hottest year on record globally. We are facing a climate emergency, yet the Victorian Labor Government is happy to increase the amount of dirty, polluting brown coal that we burn here in Victoria

Daniel Andrews wants you to think he's a climate champion by announcing stronger climate targets. But these announcements are meaningless unless we end our dependence on the most polluting form of energy: brown coal.

Join the Greens in calling on the Victorian Labor Government to reverse this decision.
